I got this recipe when I printed out a Campbell's soup coupon but I changed it up a little bit: Here's my version.
1 lb ground beef
1 can Campbell's Condensed French Onion Soup
1/4 onion
Garlic powder, celery salt, bread crumbs, and liquid smoke
Cheese (optional)
Mix ground beef, onion, and seasonings (garlic powder, celery salt, liquid smoke, bread crumbs) in container.
Flatten into patties.
Cook on griddle or in a skillet til browned on both sides.
Remove burgers from heat(If using a skillet drain of fat)
Bring soup to boil in skillet
Place burgers in soup and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
Optional: Place slices of cheese on top of burger until melted.
Serve on buns (or bread). Can use soup mixture for dipping.
We didn't have cheese when I made this, but we still fell in love with this recipe. It tastes really good and the best burgers we have had in a while.
Options we are going to try with this recipe next time include sauteing bell peppers and mushrooms before adding the soup to the skillet.
